Which team will emerge victorious at the end of the season?

It’s hard to guess which teams will come out on top in certain leagues, while it’s relatively easy to predict which ones will prevail in others.

In England, Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea are in a three-way battle to come out on top, but at the moment United seem to be in first position, not only because they lead, but also because Arsenal seem not to having too many match winners at the moment, conceding too many stupid goals that impede their progress and Chelsea making too many bad decisions under Avram Grant.

A lot would depend on United’s games against Liverpool and Arsenal, as I don’t think they will lose to Chelsea. Arsenal have upcoming fixtures that could hinder them as they take on Chelsea on Sunday, Liverpool 3 times in days both in the champions league and then off to United in the space of 10 days or so. That’s asking a lot for a young full-back who has no strength in depth. Something would have to give as surely they cannot win the league and go deep in the champions league at the same time.

Chelsea mathematically still have every chance of winning the league as they still have to entertain United and Arsenal but with Grant I don’t see them winning both games as he’s not nice enough tactically to pull off what Jose Mourinho I would have done. So I’m not very confident about tipping United for the title.

In Italy, Inter Milan appear to be on course for a third successive title as their realistic rivals Roma appear to be reeling. Added to the fact that Roma is still in the Champions League and Inter no longer tips the scales in their favor.

It would be good for the integrity of the Italian league if Roma won it for many reasons, mainly the fact that Inter was out of the second round of the champions league and also they seem to take too many penalties in the league but I I just can’t see Roma doing it.

In Spain, despite Bernd Schuster’s efforts to squander the league, Real Madrid should be crowned champions at the end of the season, as Barcelona don’t seem too keen on regaining their title.

In Scotland, Glasgow Rangers should see their main rival, Glasgow Celtic, for the title.

In the Netherlands, PSV should retain their title, but it would be a close race with Ajax still in the hunt.

In France, the title has to be lost by Lyon and I don’t see that they won’t win it for the seventh time in a row.

In Germany, Bayern Munich should be crowned champions as their main rivals are not consistent enough to face a serious challenge.

In Portugal, Porto almost mathematically won the league because they are so far away that it is ridiculous.
