TanTarA Estates Pedestal House

Located in the 25mm Lake of the Ozarks, this lake icon is situated on a 40 x 40 octagon support system at TanTarA Estates. Originally built in 1972 as a summer home for the Burton Duenke family, the house quickly became a landmark for boating enthusiasts in the area. For several decades, generations of Midwesterners have used The Pedestal House as a guide as they traveled and enjoyed the lake. Pedestal House and MM25 have teamed up. The Duenke family enjoyed the home for many years, eventually transferring the home to the firm Deloitte and Touche, who used the property as a corporate and executive retreat that provided fantastic memories for all who had the opportunity to visit. In the late ’90s, The Pedestal was again transferred to private owners who continued to use the property for friends and family.

Purchased in 2010 by Bob and Carol Zoeller, their Starboard South Group has undertaken a complete interior remodel while upgrading and refreshing the exterior to ensure this lake icon lives on. Bob and Carol, owners of the adjacent property, The Bluff House, recognized the opportunity Pedestal House offered and rushed to purchase the property when it became available.

The entire interior of the house has been renovated, remodeled and redecorated. At 3,100 square feet, the home offered a lot of potential. The kitchen features new cherry cabinets, ice maker, wine coolers, and new seating that improves the ability to accommodate large families and groups of friends. The three bedrooms have five king size beds. The two lower bedrooms are upgraded with two king beds each, microwaves, small refrigerators, and outdoor terraces with water views. Each bedroom in the house has a private bathroom. The main floor master bedroom has a king bed with two large sliding glass doors that allow guests to enjoy the lake while enjoying the privacy of their room. Bob adds that you could probably fish from your bed!

The main room has two well-differentiated spaces; the lower seating area features two 12 x 14 “panoramic windows” that overlook the main canal. Windows flank a new Piccolo gas fireplace. The other space includes seating for eight with a 50″ flat screen. Both areas have new hardwood floors. The entire main room was furnished in late 2010.

As most locals know, there is a large rooftop terrace that offers 360-degree panoramic views, including the main canal. Also, a new dock with provisions for jet skis was added in September and is connected to a large Martini deck. This new dock and deck area provides lakeside entertainment and comfort for 20-25 people.

Bob & Carol purchased all furnishings locally and hired only local labor to help make the Pedestal House once again one of the most well-known and well-cared for homes in TanTarA Estates. They like to point out that the Pedestal House is on the lake, not on it.

Although the Pedestal has never been rented, it is now available. Estates Sales and Property Management handles the rentals for Starboard South. Obviously, the house has aroused a lot of interest among people who have always wondered “what is it like inside”. The house is also linked by stairway to the adjacent “Bluff House”, allowing for two additional bedrooms during the summer months. At certain times, both houses are available, allowing rental groups of up to 18 people, including the addition of a hot tub and additional decks. Carol’s vision has been to unite both houses for family reunions, corporate retreats, and especially a destination where friends can reconnect. For Starboard Group it has been quite a task, but both houses are now available and Bob & Carol are proud to make the lake icon available to all.
