The restaurant was a popular restaurant offering delicious home cooked meals in the 1930’s. The popularity of the restaurant was not only due to the tasty meals, but also due to Ruth’s policy of offering her customers an extra helping of main courses so that they they will take them home along with their homemade cookies for dessert.

Ruth wrote a cookbook called Tried and True Toll House Recipeswhich came out in 1936. In it was the recipe for the “Toll House Chocolate Crisp Cookie”, which immediately became everyone’s favorite homemade cookie.

Today there are different ways of baking (CCC).
