dirt track car racing it is a family oriented sport. It’s not uncommon to find grandfather, father, and son working together to build a stock car modified for racing. Then the best driver of the three will take the car for a fast lap around the track. The family will work on any modifications that are necessary to prepare the car to do its part in the race. However, it is the skilled driver who wins or loses.

One such winning modified race car driver is in the small town of Latrobe, PA in the Laurel Highlands. His name is Jeremy Zufall. Jeremy, his father Jim (he also races and wins), his grandfather and some of his uncles have all been dirt track race car drivers over the years. They are a close-knit family who are passionate about sports and love to run just for fun. They also like to win. Jeremy has won many events at Latrobe Speedway, as well as other events in the Pennsylvania tri-state area.

Anyone who is 18 years of age or older and owns a car can get started in dirt track car racing. You will have to make your car safe by modifying it in case you crash during the race. The biggest modification would be to make a cage on the driver’s side to protect you if you roll over. You should also remove all windows to avoid life-threatening cuts in the event of a crash. When you first start driving, speeds average between 70 and 80 mph and those are speeds you are used to on the highways. As you progress through different racing classes, the speeds will increase up to 120mph eventually.

If you like a good time like loud engine noises, blaring commercials, dust and dirt flying everywhere near the track, you don’t mind a little mud in the eye as the cars of Dirt track racing rages around the track, so by all means, make it a fun, family night. You can really get dirty on the track if you learn to love dirt track car racing.
