The forklift is a powerful industrial truck used to transport and pick up equipment. It is sometimes called a forklift, trailer loader, and forklift. The development of the modern forklift was at the beginning of the 20th century.

The components of a forklift are the truck frame, cab, overhead guard, counterweight, sealed cylinders, power supply, load backrest, carriage, mast and some accessories.

The truck frame is to which the counterweight, mast, axles, overhead guard, power supply and wheels are attached, and is usually the base of the truck. The cab is the place for the operator which is sometimes open or closed but with a cover called overhead guard to protect the operator from different weather conditions. It contains the seat, gears, pedals, steering wheel, switches, dash, and levers.

The counterweight is used to balance the materials being loaded. It is attached to the rear frame of the truck. Tilt cylinders are attached to the mast and frame of the truck. Rotate the mast to help hook a picked up material. The forklift can be powered by alternating current or direct current. The truck has an internal combustion engine powered by gasoline or diesel. Some forklifts are powered by a fuel cell or battery. The load backrest is an extension that is attached to the cart to prevent the load from shifting backwards. The cart is the part of the truck on which some other accessories are mounted. It has a roller to guide it on the mast rails.

The mast is used to raise and lower loads and is made up of joined rails. The rails can have bushings or rollers as a guide. It is attached to the truck frame or to the front axle. And it is operated by hydraulic cylinder. Some accessories include carpet poles, carton clamps, bin handlers, rotators, roll clamps, fork locators, side shifters, post handlers, slip sheet attachments, and multi-purpose clamps.
