The method I want to introduce to you is called clicker training. What the heck is clicker training? This type of training is a practical application of operational conditioning and an effective scientific method of behavior modification for training any animal, including dogs. Make no mistake, this is not just another fad in dog training. As I said before, it is highly effective not only for dogs but for any type of animal!

It includes the use of a small, cheap plastic noise maker usually called a clicker to notice a dog’s good behavior and reward it with food or whatever other compensation is available. The main reason this is a very effective method is because of its accuracy. You must keep in mind that time is very important in dog training, that is why it is very effective. When you click, the dog realizes that everything he did was rewarded, that means he was good and he wants to repeat it.

This method helps you mold your dog’s behavior pattern to perfection. It helps weed out the wrong behavior from the right one, simply because any behavior for which the dog is not rewarded, he feels is not right and desists from it. It’s really fun!
