Shaktipat meditation and your energy system: aura, chakras, tan tiens, connections and more

Using Shaktipat meditation techniques, your realized teacher can “illuminate” your energy system for you. Your mind can immediately see/feel your aura, chakras, energy channels and connections.

Directly experiencing your energy system will simplify your practice, allowing you to see your energy body grow and progress. Knowing your chakras, the front, back, and center energy channels, the three Tan Tiens, and their connections to Heaven and Earth will give you a greater understanding of how meditation and energy work are affecting you.

Most of us cannot see subtle energy with our physical eyes. Shaktipat meditation will allow you to quickly guide Divine Light into a person’s energy system with your mind. Your mind’s eye can see the person’s energy field light up. You can look at the different parts as your mind gently focuses on each one. Colors and blockages may appear.

the human aura

Your aura forms an energy field that surrounds your physical body. This field can extend up to two meters or more from our bodies. All the information about all the lives we have lived and this present life are encoded in this field. The colors in it are constantly changing as our thoughts and emotions change.

Light colors such as white, blue, green, gold, purple, and light red indicate good health. Darker colors such as dirty white, gray, brown, black, and dark red or dark green indicate blockages and damage that need to be removed and repaired.

As you do your daily practice, your aura will grow and become stronger until incoming negative energies transform into positive power as soon as they hit your energy field.

The energy layer next to the body is easier to feel or see. It has the greatest influence on the health of the physical body. As you slowly slide your palm down through this layer of energy, you will feel hot or cold spots, causing tingling or a change in vibration, or drawing your hand to them. These sensations indicate energy imbalances.

the chakras

Chakras are swirling vortices of energy. When viewed from the front, they may appear round. Viewed from above, they are like plates or discs stacked on top of each other. Each chakra governs a different aspect of our being. Here we only deal with the seven main chakras found in the physical body. They are centered in front of the spine.

1. Mooladhara is at the perineum, which is the strip of skin between our sexual organs and the anus, at the very base of our body. Your color is red. Govern knowledge. It is here that the column of Yin energy enters us, connecting us with Mother Earth.

2. Swadishtana is behind our pubic bone. It is orange and rules our emotions, subconscious and sexual energy.

3. Manipura is yellow and is located between the navel and the solar plexus. Different systems place this chakra higher or lower in this area. See for yourself where it is. Our personal power resides here.

4. Anahata is the Heart Chakra. It is behind the sternum at the level of the heart. Its color is usually green, sometimes mixed with pink. Love emanates from our heart chakra, going out to everyone around us.

5. Vishuddi is located at the base of the throat. The color is usually blue. It governs communication and our immune system.

6. Ajneya, or the Third Eye, is located in the center of the forehead above and between the eyebrows. His usual color is indigo. This is the seat of our psychic and mental powers.

7. Sahasrara is the crown chakra located at the top of the head. Its color is usually purple with varying amounts of gold. This is our spirituality. It is here that the thin cord of white energy enters us, bringing heavenly energies into our being.

There are also minor chakras on our hands, knees, ankles, and soles of our feet. It is very important to open them to allow sick, hot and negative energies to leave the body.

The three Tan Tiens

Tan Tiens are best discovered by searching for empty spaces where nothing seems to exist. They are actually seas of living energy within us. The Upper Tan Tien is inside the skull, occupying the area where the brain is. The thinking mind resides here, the Middle Tan Tien is in the center of the chest. The emotional mind is here, the Lower Tan Tien is behind and below the navel. This is the home of the instinctive mind and our pearl of vital energy.

the connections

A thin white column of energy runs from the top of our heads out into the Universe. It is sometimes called the God connection or the Universe connection. Yang, celestial or cosmic energies reach us through this cord. It runs straight down through the center of our body in the central channel from the crown chakra to the base chakra and into Mother Earth.

Cool Yin, or Earth, energies travel up this cord from the ground, while excess hot energies travel down it to ground and keep our energies balanced. Conscious grounding after energy work is often necessary to maintain the proper balance between Yin and Yang. With daily energy work, your connection to the Universe will grow to cover the entire top of your head.

the channels

The central channel runs straight down through our bodies from the crown of the head to the base chakra. Connections with the Universe and Mother Earth run through the central channel.

Shushuma, or the back channel, runs up the center of the spinal cord from the base chakra to the crown chakra. Kundalini energies ascend through this channel. There are two other channels here to the right and to the left called Ida and Pingala. These actually cross the back channel at each chakra to form a figure eight that repeats along the spine.

The frontal channel runs up the front of the body from the base to the crown chakra. It is about 1 or 2 centimeters below the skin.

The belt channels run around the physical body just below the skin, one at the level of each chakra. They are the same color as the chakras. They intersect the front and back channels to form a network or frame of energy.

the meridians

Meridians are lines of energy that run through our body. There is one for each major organ. Acupressure and acupuncture treat blockages in these pathways. You can remove these blockages with healing energy by slowly running your hand down the meridian, removing blockages as you find them.
